CSK continue to battle injury concerns this season
CSK have been dealing with a growing list of injury setbacks throughout IPL 2026, which has repeatedly disrupted their squad balance.
Before the season even began, the franchise suffered a blow as Nathan Ellis was ruled out, forcing an early rethink in their bowling plans. The injury situation worsened mid-season when young batter Ayush Mhatre was sidelined due to a hamstring injury, despite showing excellent form at the top of the order.
Now, Ramakrishna Ghosh’s season-ending injury has added another setback to their campaign, especially at a time when CSK are still fighting for a place in the playoffs.
In the CSK vs MI clash at Chepauk, Ghosh showed early signs of promise in his debut appearance. He bowled three overs, picked up one wicket, and conceded just 24 runs — a steady and encouraging start for the young pacer.
His performance had given CSK optimism about strengthening their pace attack, but the unfortunate injury has now brought an abrupt end to what could have been a breakthrough season.
CSK still in playoff race despite setbacks
Despite the setbacks, CSK remain very much alive in the playoff race. The five-time champions are currently placed sixth on the points table, with four wins and five defeats so far in the season.
With the tournament entering a crucial phase, every match becomes vital for their qualification hopes. However, the loss of key players at important stages could prove to be a significant challenge for the team moving forward.
The management will now have to regroup quickly as they look to maintain momentum and keep their playoff hopes intact despite the growing injury concerns.
