The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians saw a batting storm right from the start, after the game was reduced to an 11-over contest due to rain at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

After being invited to bat first, RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi came out with all guns blazing and completely took the attack to the bowlers. From the very first over, there was no holding back as the duo smashed boundaries all around the ground, putting MI under immediate pressure.

Rajasthan Royals record joint-fastest 50 in IPL history

With that blazing start, Rajasthan Royals brought up their 50 in just 2.5 overs (16 balls), registering the joint-fastest team fifty in the franchise’s history in the IPL.

The previous fastest team fifty for RR also came in 16 balls, when they reached the mark in 2.4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders back in 2023.

However, the opening duo did not stop there. Jaiswal and Vaibhav continued their aggressive strokeplay and put on a stunning 80-run partnership in just 4.6 overs, putting on a complete batting carnage in Guwahati.

The partnership eventually came to an end when Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hit a flat shot straight towards the boundary, where Tilak Varma took a sensational catch at covers, finally breaking the dangerous stand.

How the carnage unfolded

The innings started with a massive 22-run over off Deepak Chahar, where Jaiswal took complete charge and set the tone early. But one of the most impressive and surprising highlights came in the very next over.

15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi announced himself on the big stage by smashing Jasprit Bumrah for a six on the very first ball he faced from the premier pacer. Even Bumrah could not help but smile, acknowledging the fearless approach of the young prodigy.

The momentum carried forward as the duo continued to attack, and even Trent Boult was not spared, with runs flowing freely in his over as well.
