Disappointed Pakistan cricket fans once again vented their frustration over Babar Azam’s batting approach during the opening T20I against Australia, played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Despite the hosts securing a comfortable victory, sections of the crowd appeared unhappy with the veteran batter’s method in the shortest format.

Pakistan posted a competitive 168/8 after being put in to bat, with all-rounder Saim Ayub providing the late impetus through a brisk 22-ball 40. In reply, Australia struggled against a disciplined bowling effort and were restricted to 146/8 in their allotted 20 overs, handing Pakistan a 22-run win in the series opener.

The spinners proved to be the decisive factor on the evening, combining to take six wickets and effectively stalling Australia’s chase. Their control through the middle overs ensured the visitors were never truly in contention despite a few brief counter-attacks.

However, the on-field success was overshadowed by an ugly incident in the stands. During the match, a fight reportedly broke out after a spectator made derogatory remarks about Babar Azam. The situation quickly escalated, with several individuals surrounding the fan and assaulting him before security intervened.
