Pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been officially named as a replacement for the injured Matheesha Pathirana in Sri Lanka’s squad for the T20 World Cup.

Pathirana was ruled out after sustaining a muscle strain during Sri Lanka’s Group B clash against Australia on Monday, a match the hosts won by eight wickets in Pallekele.

“The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has approved Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement for Matheesha Pathirana in the Sri Lanka squad,” the International Cricket Council said in a statement.

The right arm pacer Pathirana had bowled just three deliveries against Australia before pulling up with the injury and was unable to complete his over. He had earlier featured in Sri Lanka’s matches against Ireland and Oman.
