Sunrisers Hyderabad are back at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday and if their opening game against RCB was anything to go by, Hyderabad is not a place you want to come to with a fragile bowling attack and a thin skin.
SRH vs LSG Match Preview
Sunrisers enter their first home game this season after an up-and-down start to the IPL. SRH suffered a hard-fought 6-wicket loss to RCB despite defending a massive score of 201, but then registered a statement victory against KKR. SRH set a target of 226/8 against KKR and then defended it by 65 runs, becoming the first team to defend in this season.
LSG will enter the ground in search of their first win of this season. Lucknow Super Giants started their season with a six-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals, which made captain Rishabh Pant and his team determined to achieve good results here. Despite being on top in this game because of their excellent performance in Kolkata, SRH will find their opponents ready to counter their attacking game plan.
SRH vs LSG: Head To Head Record
The LSG dominate this clash by winning 4 out of their total 6 matches. Nonetheless, recent performances have shown that the fortunes of both sides can fluctuate dramatically, with LSG beating their opponents SRH via a run feast in their clash in March in Hyderabad, only to be comprehensively beaten back at home just two months later in May.
While Lucknow leads the tally 4-2, the games in this ground never come to an end without any fireworks.
SRH vs LSG Pitch Report
The Hyderabad pitch in April is as flat as they come and the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium does nothing to help bowlers who are already struggling.
Anything under 210 is no longer considered a safe total at Uppal, the outfield is lightning fast, the square boundaries are short and even mishits tend to find the rope. There may be a hint of swing with the new ball under lights, but spinners will need to be brave with their lengths to have any impact on a surface this true.
Dew is almost guaranteed with a 7:30 PM start and that will make the ball slippery in the second innings, giving the chasing side a real advantage. Expect both captains to want to bowl first.
SRH vs LSG Key Players
Travis Head (SRH): The most destructive powerplay batter in world cricket right now and the man who sets the entire tone for how SRH play. If Head gets through the opening spell from Anrich Nortje and finds his rhythm, the game could effectively be over before the first strategic timeout. Lucknow's entire bowling plan will be built around taking his wicket early and cheaply.
Nicholas Pooran (LSG): The heartbeat of the Lucknow middle order and a player with a superb record in Hyderabad. Pooran's ability to take down quality spin and express pace with equal comfort makes him the ideal counter-punch to whatever SRH throw at LSG. In a high-scoring game on a flat surface, he is the man Lucknow will be looking to when the situation gets tight.

SRH vs LSG Match Prediction
SRH at home in Hyderabad is one of the toughest assignments in this tournament and Lucknow will know that going in. The raw firepower of Head and Klaasen on a surface built for their style of batting is genuinely difficult to plan for.
Lucknow's bowling attack is better equipped than most to handle a flat deck. Bishnoi and Nortje give them real variety, but in a high-scoring shootout at Uppal, backing against the home side feels brave.
