Asia Cup: Indian players shake hands but not with Pakistani players

NEW DELHI: The handshake was once again in focus ahead of the Asia Cup Super 4 clash between India and Pakistan. As expected, India captain Suryakumar Yadav snubbed his Pakistani counterpart at the toss, and the same scenario played out at the end of the match.India emerged victorious again, comfortably chasing down a 172-run target. As Tilak Varma finished the game with a six and a four, he and partner Hardik Pandya headed straight to the team camp, skipping the traditional handshake with the Pakistan players. What left Pakistani players baffled was that the Indian players headed out of the dressing room and started walking towards them, only to shake hands with the umpires and match officials before turning back.No handshake again.#INDvPAK #AsiaCupT20 pic.twitter.com/1rbwIJ943D— Akash Srivastava (@isrivastavas) September 21, 2025Last weekend's clash between the two sent the cricketing world into a frenzy after handshakes were denied by the whole Indian contingent as a protest and a show of solidarity to the Indian Armed Forces and the victims of the Pahalgam terror attacks. It seems that the Indian team, especially captain Suryakumar Yadav, has no intentions of showing any goodwill this time around as well.Talking about the match, Abhishek Sharma was brutal and beautiful in equal measure during his scintillating 74 as India made a tricky chase look comfortable, winning an ill-tempered match by six wickets in Dubai. Left-handed Abhishek, who got 30-plus knocks in all the group league games, hit six fours and five sixes in his 39-ball knock.Ahead of the clash, Suryakumar had already been questioned about the issue during a press conference, but he chose to deflect them. When asked indirectly about whether India's "no-handshake" stance would continue, he replied: "What other things are you talking about? You are talking about our performance with the ball? It is a good contest between bat and ball. The whole stadium is packed to the rafters. The best thing is to put your best foot forward and do the best for your country."
