NEW DELHI: In a stunning blow to cricketing fraternity, Pakistan's decision to boycott the February 15 T20 World Cup match against India in Colombo has shattered fans' hopes of witnessing the sport's fiercest rivalry.
After Pakistan's decision, the ICC issued a statement on Sunday, hinting that Pakistan's revenue from the T20 World Cup would take a big hit if the decision is not changed.

"The ICC hopes that the PCB will consider the significant and long-term implications for cricket in its own country as this is likely to impact the global cricket ecosystem, which it is itself a member and beneficiary of," the global body said in a statement.
"While the ICC respects the roles of governments in matters of national policy, this decision is not in the interest of the global game or the welfare of fans worldwide, including millions in Pakistan," it further stated.
ICC board to meet over Pakistan’s decision to skip India T20 World Cup clash
Here's what could unfold if Pakistan remain firm on their stance and refuse to take the field on February 15.
* Walkover for India: Since reports emerged that India will travel to Colombo for the match despite Pakistan's boycott, they will follow all pre-match procedures, including holding a press conference, undergoing a practice session, and going out for the toss, waiting for the Pakistan captain to appear. If Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha decides to skip the toss, the match referee will award India a walkover and two points.
* Points Shared: Another scenario could see India and Pakistan each being awarded a point. This would only happen if both captains - Suryakumar Yadav for India and Salman Ali Agha for Pakistan - fail to show up for the toss. In that case, the match referee would split the points between the two teams.
* Best-Case Scenario: The most favourable outcome for everyone would be Pakistan reversing its boycott and playing against India. Fans, players, broadcasters, and all stakeholders alike would relish seeing the high-profile clash go ahead as planned.
