As he gets ready to head an 'interesting' Pakistan team to a three-match T20I series against South Africa, Captain Salman Ali Agha was full of positive vibes and hopeful. The tour, which starts on Tuesday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, is a part of Pakistan's journey to the T20 World Cup 2026, featuring a blend of experienced players and youngsters.
Blend of experience and youth in Pakistan’s T20I Squad, says Salman Ali Agha

Pakistan’s squad features the return of premier batter Babar Azam and pace spearhead Naseem Shah, both back in the T20I fold after recent absences. Meanwhile, Usman Tariq (off-spinner) and Usman Khan (wicketkeeper-batter) could make their T20I debuts, adding new depth and variety to the lineup.
“I think we have a very interesting and exciting side, with a few comebacks and a few new faces as well. I’m very excited to lead this team, and we really hope to have a great series,” said Salman, as quoted by Geo News.
Pakistan's last T20I series at home was in May when they defeated Bangladesh 3-0. However, they have struggled to maintain their form since then. The Men in Green lost 2-1 in Bangladesh, but secured a 2-1 victory against the West Indies in August.
Moreover, they won the T20I tri-series that included Afghanistan and the UAE, but they faltered against India, thereby losing the Asia Cup 2025 title. Even with the fluctuations, Salman is still positive about his team's ability to take on a skilled South African side.
“We had a great series against Bangladesh at home, and I’m hopeful for good results in the upcoming series as well. We just want to execute our plans over a longer period,” Salman said. “As I always say, we have a great team, a team that can beat any side. Obviously, South Africa are a very good side; they have a few misses, but still possess a lot of talent.”
With new players eager to impress and senior stars back in rhythm, Pakistan’s focus will be on striking the right balance before the global T20 showpiece next year
