Gujarat Titans pacers produced a ruthless display as they crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, registering their fifth consecutive win in IPL 2026.

On a tricky Ahmedabad surface, the 2022 champions delivered one of their most complete performances of the season. After posting a competitive 168, GT’s pace attack ripped through SRH and bundled them out for just 86 in 14.5 overs. It also became Hyderabad’s lowest-ever total in IPL history.

GT climb to top as playoff race enters decisive stage

With the win, Gujarat Titans moved to the top of the IPL 2026 points table with 16 points from 12 games and are now within touching distance of sealing not just a playoff spot but also a top-two finish.

Sunrisers Hyderabad remain third with 14 points from 12 matches, but the 82-run defeat has badly hurt their net run rate, which could become crucial in the final week of the league stage.

The playoff race remains wide open. Punjab Kings, once seen as frontrunners, have slipped to fourth. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are still firmly in contention with three games remaining. Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders still have slim hopes and will need results to go their way.

Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar steady GT after early blows

After being asked to bat first, Gujarat lost early wickets as Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler departed cheaply.

But Sai Sudharsan once again stood tall. The left-hander handled the difficult conditions brilliantly and anchored the innings with 61 off 44 balls. He stitched a crucial 60-run stand with Washington Sundar, who smashed 50 off 33 deliveries.

That partnership changed the momentum and ensured GT reached a defendable total on a pitch where stroke-making never looked easy.

For SRH, young quicks Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain impressed with two wickets each, while Pat Cummins once again kept things tight in the middle overs.

Gujarat Titans pacers destroy SRH chase inside powerplay

Mohammed Siraj struck in the opening over to remove the dangerous Travis Head for a duck. Soon after, Kagiso Rabada tore through the top order by dismissing Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Smaran Ravichandran.

After powerplay and four wickets down shortly after, SRH never recovered. The batters looked completely out of answers against bounce on offer. Even orange cap holder Heinrich Klassen departed for just 14 runs.

Hyderabad collapse raises concerns ahead of final league games

The collapse exposed SRH’s vulnerability on slower and seam-friendly surfaces.

Apart from Pat Cummins’ late 19, none of the batters managed to settle. Jason Holder added to the collapse with three wickets, while Prasidh Krishna struck twice. Rashid Khan finished things off as SRH folded for 86.

With league stages are nearing conclusion, SRH will need to quickly address their batting struggles on non-flat surfaces, while Gujarat have sent a strong warning to the rest of the league.

The heavy defeat has raised serious questions over SRH’s batting on surfaces that offer movement and grip, while Gujarat continue to look like one of the most dangerous sides heading into the playoffs.
