The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 now moves into match 11, where one of the most fierce rivalries in the history of the tournament will take center stage. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, April 5.

This is the Southern Derby, and there is always something extra when these two sides meet. RCB, the defending champions, have been dominating this contest in recent times, winning their last three matches against CSK. The five-time champions CSK, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back.

Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK are still searching for answers after two disappointing losses. In this year’s IPL 2026, the caravan started with a crushing defeat against Rajasthan Royals, and then Punjab Kings defeated them on their home turf. That one would hurt more, because CSK made 200-plus runs and still ended up on the losing side.

Their batting have shown some promise though. Ayush Matre stepping up at the top and a brilliant little cameo from Sarfaraz Khan gave them a bit of confidence. But still, something feels missing. That metal which helped them dominate for years, it’s just not there right now.

For RCB, things look very different. RCB looking like a complete side after a phenomenal win in their opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will come into this game with a proper gap, players look fresh, relaxed.

And with no reports suggesting that Josh Hazlewood might be joining the clash against CSK, it kind of gives them that extra edge.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is known for lots of runs. Short boundaries, quick outfield, ball just flies once batters get going. Bowlers usually have a tough time here especially in the second innings with dew comes into play.

Early on there can be a bit of movement for the pacers. But it doesn’t last long. Spinners have to rely more on variations than turn. Overall, it’s a batting-friendly surface and anything under 220 doesn’t really feel safe here.

Ayush Matre (CSK) – Matre scored a sensational knock against KKR where the right-hand young batter scored 73 runs. He will be once again crucial for CSK at the top.

Virat Kohli (RCB) – You just can’t rule him out in games like this. With a match-winning half-century in the opening game, Kohli will be high on confidence, and players like him are always the ones to bet on.

Sarfaraz Khan (CSK) – Sarfaraz Khan, who has returned to the IPL after a couple of years going unsold, has scored 22 runs in just 12 deliveries. CSK will be heavily depending on him for those finishing touches again.

Jacob Duffy (RCB) – Duffy started his IPL journey with a proper impact. A match-winning, Player of the Match performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where his bowling in the powerplay just broke the game open. He can be expected to do something similar here as well.
