NEW DELHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed displeasure with the International Cricket Council after the global body unveiled a promotional poster for next year’s T20 World Cup ticket sales that did not feature Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha.
A well placed source within the PCB said the issue had been raised with the ICC, pointing out that the poster included only five captains — Suryakumar Yadav of India, Aiden Markram of South Africa, Mitchell Marsh of Australia, Dasun Shanaka of Sri Lanka and Harry Brook of England.
“We faced the same issues when the Asia Cup was held a few months back and that time the broadcasters had started a promotional campaign without our captain featuring in it,” the source said.
He added that the situation changed only after the PCB took up the matter with the Asian Cricket Council.
“We are facing a similar situation this time as the ICC has not projected our captain on the promotional poster for ticket sales,” he added.
The source noted that while Pakistan may not be among the top five teams in the ICC T20 rankings, the team carries a rich legacy and continues to be one of the major attractions at World Cup events.
He added that the PCB remains confident the ICC will include the Pakistan captain in future promotional posters and campaigns.
