Sahibzada Farhan smashed a career-best unbeaten 80 off just 45 balls as Pakistan cruised to a seven-wicket win over a struggling Sri Lanka in the T20 tri-series on Saturday.

Sri Lanka, who were bowled out for just 95 in their opening defeat against Zimbabwe, posted another underwhelming total after opting to bat. They were restricted to 128/7, with Pakistan’s spinners and pacers maintaining tight control throughout the innings.

Pakistan’s chase was all about Farhan’s explosive strokeplay. His knock, laced with six fours and five sixes, powered the hosts to 131/3 in just 15.3 overs, sealing their second consecutive victory in the tournament.

“It was a complete game. We were very good with both bat and ball,” Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said after the win. “Farhan is someone who, if he stays in for three or four overs, can take the game away from any opposition.”

Sri Lanka showed early promise through Kamil Mishara (22), but once he was dismissed and Kusal Mendis fell to a run-out, their innings quickly derailed. Mohammad Nawaz (3/16) led Pakistan’s charge with the ball, dismissing Kusal Perera and Dasun Shanaka off successive deliveries, while leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed also kept things tight.

Janith Liyanage's 41* off 38 balls provided resistance, but Pakistan’s disciplined death bowling allowed only 37 runs in the last five overs.

In the chase, Farhan attacked from the start, adding 47 runs with Saim Ayub before continuing the assault alongside Babar Azam in a 69-run stand. Dushmantha Chameera picked up two late wickets, but Farhan’s dominance ensured a comfortable finish, sealed with a straight six.

Sri Lanka captain Shanaka admitted disappointment, saying, “We aren't a team that should perform like this. Since we arrived here, we have struggled to find rhythm on these pitches.”

Pakistan, unbeaten so far, will next face Zimbabwe in their final league match.
