Mumbai Indians have confirmed that two of their players will not feature again in IPL 2026, with both ruled out due to injuries sustained at different points during the season.
The franchise announced on Tuesday that replacements will be named as per IPL guidelines, adding to what has been a campaign defined by injury disruptions, squad instability and ultimately the earliest playoff exit the five-time champions have faced in recent memory.
KKR vs MI: Quinton de Kock sustained a tendon injury
Quinton de Kock sustained a tendon injury in his left wrist ahead of MI's game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29.
The South African wicketkeeper-batter had been in blistering form in his limited appearances this season, he smashed an extraordinary 112 not out against Punjab Kings in his very first outing, becoming the first overseas player to score IPL centuries for three different franchises, before the wrist injury cut his campaign short after just three matches.
His last game for MI came against Chennai Super Kings on April 23, where he managed just 7 off 10 after scores of 112 and 13 in his previous two appearances.
KKR vs MI: Raj Bawa suffered a ligament tear
Raj Angad Bawa's injury is more recent and arguably more frustrating in its timing. The 23-year-old Chandigarh all-rounder suffered a ligament tear to his right thumb while playing in MI's match against Punjab Kings on May 14. a game that ended in heartbreak as Tilak Varma's final-ball six sealed a stunning MI win.
Bawa played three games in total this season, contributing 16 with the bat in his only innings and taking two wickets across his appearances. Both players are now recovering at their respective homes under the guidance of the Mumbai Indians medical team.

What it means for Mumbai Indians' final two games
Mumbai Indians have already been eliminated from the playoffs race and sit ninth in the table with eight points from twelve games, four wins from what has been their most difficult IPL campaign in years.
They still have two games remaining: against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Wednesday May 20 and against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on Sunday May 24. For a side with nothing to play for in terms of the standings, the losses of de Kock and Bawa are more significant as personal setbacks for the players than tactical blows for the franchise. Mumbai will announce replacement signings as per IPL regulations before their next game.
