The IPL 2025 Mega Auction was held on November 24, 25,2024, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. All IPL teams invested a huge ₹639.15 crore to secure 182 players out of a pool of 577 contenders.
The auction broke records as Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history at ₹27 crore, followed by Sheyas Iyer at ₹26.75 crore. Indian talent dominated the event with 120 local players sold for ₹383.4 crore, including 12 deals above ₹10 crore.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history after getting selected to play for the Rajasthan Royals in 2025. He became the youngest Player to play in the IPL at the age of 14. MS Dhoni played the 2025 IPL season as an uncapped player. CSK retained Dhoni for ₹4 crore.
Overseas Players in the Spotlight
While Indian players dominated the auction every year, overseas stars also gained attention. Many big international stars received high bids every year. Their presence adds balance, power and global experience to the tournaments. Jos Buttler is the most costly foreign player in IPL 2025. GT purchased him for 15.75 crore.
Mitchell Starc is the most expensive overseas player in IPL history. KKR picked him in the 2024 IPL auction for ₹24 crore.
