Pakistan Under-19 captain Farhan Yousaf won the toss and elected to bowl against India in their ACC Under-19 Asia Cup Group A clash on Sunday in Dubai. The high-voltage encounter is the second group match for both teams, with India and Pakistan having registered convincing wins in their respective opening fixtures.
The match was reduced to a 49-overs-a-side contest following a brief rain delay, adding another layer of intrigue to the much-anticipated clash.
Attention will be firmly on India’s much-hyped opening combination of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Ayush Mhatre, who are leading a new-generation batting unit in the tournament. While the on-field battle promises intensity, off-field optics have also drawn interest.
Much like recent senior-level encounters, the two Under-19 captains did not exchange handshakes at the toss, continuing a trend seen across multiple India–Pakistan fixtures in recent months.
In recent tournaments, including the men’s Asia Cup, the Women’s ODI World Cup and the Rising Stars Asia Cup T20, several Indian players have opted not to shake hands with Pakistan players, citing solidarity with the Indian Army and victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
