NEW DELHI: Whenever India and Pakistan face each other on the sporting field, the handshake saga often takes centre stage - and India A, led by Jitesh Sharma, continued the precedent by skipping it with Pakistan Shaheens skipper Irfan Khan at the toss during the Asia Cup Rising Stars match in Doha on Sunday.
Back in September during the Asia Cup, India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav had declined a handshake with Salman Ali Agha, expressing solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Now, Jitesh Sharma - who was the second wicketkeeper in that tournament and is currently leading India A - has echoed his senior's stance, choosing not to shake hands with his Pakistani counterpart in the ongoing event.
However, several claims were circulating on social media suggesting that the Indian team was willing to shake hands with the Pakistan players after the match. But a new video has surfaced, seemingly debunking that notion.

In the clip, Pakistan players are seen shaking hands with their support staff and among themselves, while no Indian player is visible nearby for the customary post-match handshake.
Talking about the match, India went down to Pakistan, enduring an eight-wicket defeat after a dramatic batting collapse. They were cruising at 91 for three in the 10th over before being bowled out for just 136.
In reply, the Shaheens chased down the target of 137 with as many as 40 balls to spare for their second successive victory in the tournament, even as India suffered their first loss after starting the campaign with a big win against the UAE.
Opener Maaz Sadaqat top-scored for Shaheens with an unbeaten 47-ball 79, capping off an excellent outing for him after taking two wickets with his left-arm spin bowling.
