T20 World Cup Warm-Up: Zimbabwe, Oman, Nepal win their respective games

NEW DELHI: Zimbabwe made a winning start to their T20 World Cup warm-up campaign, defeating the Netherlands by 29 runs at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday.Ryan Burl anchored Zimbabwe's innings with a brisk half-century, helping his side post a competitive 178 for 9 after being asked to bat first. Burl struck 50 from just 31 deliveries, peppering the boundary with six fours, while Dion Myers chipped in with a handy 32.The Netherlands kept things tight with the ball, led by Logan van Beek, who returned figures of 3 for 22 in his three-over spell.Chasing 179, the Dutch batting never quite found momentum and were eventually bowled out for 149 off the final ball of the match. Left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava starred with the ball, ripping through the top order to finish with impressive figures of 3 for 11. Leg-spinner Graeme Cremer offered solid support, picking up two wickets for 15 runs.Despite the collapse, van Beek showed some late fight with the bat, smashing a quick 40 off 31 balls that included three towering sixes, but his effort wasn't enough to bridge the gap as Zimbabwe sealed a comfortable win.Nepal comfortably get past UAE by 7 wicketsDeependra Singh Airee (50 no off 31 balls) and Aarif Sheikh (61 no off 37 balls) enjoyed a smashing unbroken third wicket stand of 103 runs as Nepal comfortably outclassed UAE by seven wickets in another warm-up game at the Chepauk in Chennai.Batting first, UAE managed a below par 145 for 6 with Sohaib Khan top-scoring with 38. Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane and seamer Karan KC got two wickets apiece.In reply, Nepal were reduced to 45 for 3, having lost their seasoned batters Kushal Bhurtel and skipper Rohit Paudel early.However Airee, who holds the world record for fastest half-century in T20Is (9 balls) and Sheikh hit 12 fours and three sixes between them to wrap up the game in just 17 overs.Oman beat Sri Lanka AIn another game at the Colombo Colts Club ground, Oman defeated Sri Lanka A by five wickets with two overs remaining.Batting first, Sri Lanka A managed 145 for 9 with Shah Faisal, Shakeel Ahmed and Jay Odedra getting two wickets apiece.In reply, Oman scored the runs in 18 overs with Aamir Kaleem blazing his way to an unbeaten 80 off 47 balls with eight fours and three sixes.(With PTI Inputs)
