NEW DELHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to hold a board meeting to discuss Pakistan’s future in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 following its decision to boycott the high-profile match against India.
As reported by India Today, the ICC’s top officials are likely to take up the matter this week, with discussions expected to be held either on Tuesday or Wednesday, as the body looks to decide its next course of action.
‘Sanctions lagani hain toh laga do’: Rashid Latif dares ICC over India match boycott
No official word from PCB yet
Despite the public post, no formal communication has been made by the PCB to the International Cricket Council so far. The ICC is still awaiting an official, written clarification from Pakistan’s cricketing authorities.
Notably, Pakistan’s T20 captain Salman Ali Agha has remained silent on the issue. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has also not made any public statement since the controversy erupted.
The lack of clarity from Pakistan’s top cricket officials has only added to the uncertainty surrounding the situation.
Sanctions firmly on the table
Sources also suggest that the ICC could consider strong measures if Pakistan refuses to play the India match. These may include financial penalties, reduction in ICC revenue share, restrictions related to the Pakistan Super League, and possible exclusion from future multi-nation events.
