Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday named the India A cricket team squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series to be held in Sri Lanka.

Many prominent names have made it to the squad, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old young prodigy who will be featuring for India A for the first time.

The side will be led by Tilak Varma. It also includes Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, who have been rewarded after a good campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Rajat Patidar among notable omissions from India A squad

Meanwhile, a few prominent names have missed out despite brilliant performances in the ongoing IPL season. Among them is Rajat Patidar, the RCB skipper, who has been in top form this season.

In 12 matches, Patidar has already scored 337 runs at an average of 33.70. His strike rate is around 192 and he has continuously played some brilliant innings in the middle order, becoming one of the major reasons behind RCB’s strong run in the league stage.

Devdutt Padikkal and Angkrish Raghuvanshi also miss out

Apart from him, Devdutt Padikkal, another RCB batter who has been at the top of his game with clean hitting throughout the season, also missed out.

Padikkal has scored 367 runs at an average of 36.70 and has been one of the most consistent Indian batters in the tournament.

Another promising youngster to miss out is Angkrish Raghuvanshi. The KKR batter has looked brilliant despite the team’s poor performances and has impressed with his maturity in the middle order.

ODI tri-series to be held from June 9

Meanwhile, India A will be playing the tri-ODI series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A from June 9 to June 21, 2026, in Sri Lanka.

The tournament is seen as a crucial white-ball assignment for the selectors to assess upcoming Indian stars and identify players for future opportunities in the senior side.
