Donovan Ferreira’s brilliant knock brought an end to Punjab Kings’ unbeaten run in IPL 2026 as Rajasthan Royals sealed a six-wicket win in a high-scoring contest on Tuesday.

Chasing 223, Rajasthan looked under pressure at one stage with 71 needed off the last six overs. But Ferreira turned the game around with a calm yet powerful innings. He remained unbeaten on 52 off 26 balls and controlled the chase smartly. Alongside him, Shubham Dubey played a key role with 31 not out off just 12 balls as Rajasthan got home with four balls to spare.
It was a tough outing for Punjab’s bowlers. Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson and Marco Jansen all conceded heavily and could not stop the flow of runs when it mattered most.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gives Rajasthan Royals a flying start
Earlier in the chase, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set the tone with an explosive start. He smashed 43 off just 16 balls, including five sixes, and took the game on from the first over.
Punjab did manage to pull things back in the middle overs. Yuzvendra Chahal led the fightback with three wickets. He removed Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag at key moments.
Jaiswal had scored a quick 51 off 27 balls while Parag added 29 off 16. Their dismissals slowed Rajasthan briefly before the late surge.
Marcus Stoinis powers Punjab Kings to 222
Earlier, Punjab Kings posted 222 for 4 after being asked to bat first. The top order got starts, but none converted them into a big innings. Prabhsimran Singh top-scored with 59 off 44 balls. Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly chipped in with quick runs.
The late push came from Marcus Stoinis, who hammered an unbeaten 62 off just 22 balls with six sixes. Punjab added 55 runs in the final three overs to go past the 220 mark.
Among the RR bowlers, Yash Raj Punja impressed with two wickets and kept things tight during the middle phase.
In the end, Rajasthan’s strong start and composed finish proved enough as they chased down a big total and handed Punjab Kings their first loss of the season.
