This will be Bell’s first stint in the Indian Premier League. The 42-year-old, who retired from international cricket in 2020, joins head coach Hemang Badani and mentor Kevin Pietersen as DC continue their quest for a maiden IPL title.

Bell brings with him considerable coaching experience despite being new to the IPL ecosystem. He has previously worked with England’s junior teams across various age groups and served as Sri Lanka’s batting coach during their 2024 tour of England. In 2023, Bell was also part of New Zealand’s coaching setup.

In franchise cricket, the former England star has held the role of assistant coach with Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, adding further depth to DC’s backroom staff.
