The second T20I between Pakistan and Australia was overshadowed by controversy after Australian all-rounder Cameron Green appeared to accuse Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq of having an “illegal action” during the match.

The incident occurred after Green was dismissed by Tariq. As he walked back to the pavilion, Green was seen making gestures towards the Australian bench, suggesting he believed the spinner was “chucking” the ball. The moment quickly sparked debate, given Tariq’s past scrutiny over his bowling action.

Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja, however, dismissed Green’s reaction, urging the Australian all-rounder to focus on the game rather than complain.

“Well, you have to deal with it. It’s as simple as that. That is the wrong way of looking at things,” Raja remarked on commentary as Green returned to the dugout.

Despite the visible on-field reaction, neither the match officials nor the Australian team have lodged a formal complaint against Tariq.

The spinner has previously defended his action, explaining that the natural structure of his arm gives the appearance of excessive bend. He has also stressed that his action has been tested and cleared multiple times.

“There are two corners on my elbow, which makes it hard for me to straighten. That creates confusion for spectators,” Tariq told The National late last year. “I have given two tests at labs in Pakistan and my action was cleared within a week. I was not told to change anything or reduce the degrees. I am confident because I know I am not throwing.”

Responding to criticism, Tariq also took aim at armchair critics, urging fans to educate themselves before making allegations.

“People should study cricket first before making accusations. If you don’t have knowledge and are just commenting, then illiteracy can kill knowledge,” he had said.

Tariq has been reported for a suspect action on several occasions in the past but has been cleared every time, with no sanctions imposed against him.
