In a shocking development, former Australian batter David Warner was arrested on charges of drunk driving in Sydney on Sunday, April 5.

According to news.com.au, the incident took place in the suburb of Maroubra during a random breath testing drive. Warner had reportedly stopped and parked his vehicle before reaching the testing point.

However, police officers approached him and conducted a breath test, which found him over the legal limit.

He was then taken into custody and brought to the local police station, where a second test recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.104. Warner was released later the same day after being processed and issued a court attendance notice, and is now set to face court next month.

The 39-year-old, who is currently leading Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League 2026, had travelled to Australia during a short break between matches. He is expected to return to Pakistan in time for the team’s upcoming fixture on April 9.
