NEW DELHI: Adelaide Strikers' Chris Lynn produced a sensational fielding effort during their Big Bash League match against Brisbane Heat on Wednesday, firing in a direct hit from point to run out Matt Renshaw and compound the Heat's misery as they slumped to 20/4.

Lynn nailed a direct hit to find the stumps, catching Matt Renshaw inches short of his crease before television replays confirmed the dismissal.

Lynn's sharp run-out, backed up by disciplined spells from Jamie Overton and Liam Scott, put the Strikers firmly in control as they bundled out the visiting Brisbane Heat for just 121 in 19.4 overs.

Brisbane Heat's early collapse deepened quickly, slipping from 20/4 to 21/5, before Adelaide Strikers' bowlers completed a clinical dismantling of the visitors in under 20 overs. Jamie Overton led the charge with an outstanding spell of 3/19, removing key batters Jack Wildermuth and Xavier Bartlett to break any hopes of a recovery.

Liam Scott and Pakistan seamer Hasan Ali provided excellent support, picking up two wickets apiece, while Luke Wood and skipper Matthew Short chipped in with one each to keep the pressure relentless.

Amid the ruins, Matthew Kuhnemann offered brief resistance for Brisbane Heat, top-scoring with an unbeaten 31 off 22 balls, laced with a boundary and three towering sixes. Hugh Weibgen, batting at number six, added 28 from 33 deliveries, but the lack of momentum elsewhere ensured the innings never truly took off.

Lynn scripts history

Lynn wasn't done after his brilliance in the field. He went on to script history with the bat, becoming the first player to reach 4,000 runs in the Big Bash League. Fittingly, he brought up the landmark in style, launching Xavier Bartlett over cow corner for a towering six.

The right-handed batter smashed an unbeaten 79 off 41 balls, laced with six sixes and as many fours, as the Strikers chased down the 122-run target in just 14.1 overs.
