In a massive development for the global cricketing fraternity, Chennai’s iconic M. A. Chidambaram Stadium is reportedly set to host the first-ever Big Bash League (BBL) match on Indian soil in the second week of December 2026.

As per a report carried by The Indian Express, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given its approval for the Australian T20 league to stage a high-profile fixture at Chepauk as part of an overseas showcase initiative

Chepauk, one of the most historic venues in world cricket, is anticipated to witness huge turnout and record viewership figures, given the popularity of T20 leagues among Indian fans and the strong following of Australian players in the IPL ecosystem.
