Cameron Green’s dismissal in the second T20I between Pakistan and Australia sparked controversy after the Australian all-rounder appeared to question Usman Tariq’s bowling action during the match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Green was visibly unhappy after being dismissed by the Pakistan spinner in the 11th over of Australia’s chase. As he made his way back to the pavilion, Green was seen making a throwing gesture with his arm, seemingly suggesting that he believed the delivery was illegal.
The incident quickly gained traction on social media, with fans and former cricketers debating the dismissal. Tariq’s unorthodox action, which has previously drawn scrutiny, came under renewed focus as clips of the moment circulated widely online. Several users went as far as branding the bowler a “blatant chucker.”

Despite the reaction, Tariq continued bowling without interruption, as neither the Australian team nor the on-field umpires lodged a formal complaint during the match.
According to International Cricket Council regulations, a bowling action is deemed illegal if a bowler’s elbow extends by more than 15 degrees during the delivery stride. This assessment is carried out using the ICC’s Standard Analysis Protocols, which measure elbow extension from the point the bowling arm reaches horizontal until the moment of release.
The rules also state that any natural elbow hyperextension is discounted when determining legality. A bowler’s action can only be reviewed if reported by match officials, following which it undergoes biomechanical testing at an ICC-accredited facility.
As things stand, no official statement has been issued to suggest that Tariq’s action will be reviewed.
Pakistan seal series
Setting aside the controversy, Pakistan delivered a dominant performance to secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series with a comprehensive 90-run victory.
After choosing to bat, Pakistan piled on 198 for 5, led by captain Salman Ali Agha’s blistering 76 off 40 deliveries. Usman Khan provided strong support with a fluent 53 off 36 balls.
Australia faltered in reply against Pakistan’s spin-heavy attack and were bundled out for 108 in 15.4 overs. Leg-spinners Abrar Ahmed (3 for 14) and Shadab Khan (3 for 26) led the charge as Pakistan wrapped up the series with a match to spare.
