The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to hold its Apex Council meeting on December 22, with one of the biggest talking points expected to be the revision of match fees for women cricketers in domestic cricket.
Following India’s historic ODI World Cup triumph last month, the demand for better pay and stronger support for women players has intensified. The BCCI appears ready to act, potentially marking a landmark change in Indian women’s cricket.
Women cricketers’ pay hike on the agenda by BCCI

According to Cricbuzz, the board is preparing to revise match fees across all domestic women’s tournaments, including the Senior One-Day, Senior T20, and multi-day competitions. The move is driven not only by the World Cup victory but also by the rising talent pool and the growing popularity of women’s cricket after the WPL.
Several state associations have reportedly urged the BCCI to align pay closer to global standards, enabling more players to pursue cricket full-time without financial pressure. If approved, the revision could be one of the most significant steps taken by Indian cricket this year, offering better security for young players, improved training opportunities, and a clearer pathway to the national team.
BCCI’s newly elected president, Mithun Manhas, will chair his first Apex Council meeting later this month. Alongside women’s pay, the board will review payments for umpires and match referees and provide stakeholders with updates on BCCI’s digital platforms.
