Munaf also highlighted his work ethic, which is often a key factor for young or new players breaking into the XI. The fact that he is already being considered as an impact option shows that he is part of the plans, even if he hasn’t played yet.

"He is fond of bowling, has a great work ethic. IPL kee hawa nahi lagi hain ab tak (He has not got the hang of IPL yet). He took 60 wickets in Ranji Trophy, it is a big deal. He is ready to play for us. He could play anytime including as an impact player."

This statement explains both sides of the situation. On one hand, Auqib Nabi is still adjusting to the IPL environment, which is very different from domestic cricket. On the other hand, the DC team management clearly believes he is ready and capable of stepping in whenever needed.

Why DC haven't changed the combination yet

The main reason behind Nabi's absence is team balance and the performances of the current bowling unit. Under Axar Patel, DC have preferred experienced bowlers like Mukesh Kumar, T Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi in the first two matches.

Auqib Nabi was part of the squad and even available as an impact substitute earlier during game against LSG, but the match situation didn't require that change. So it's not about him being left out due to performance, it’s simply that the current setup has worked so far.

Because of this, he isn’t seen as a backup opti, he is seen as someone who can contribute when given the chance. That’s why the team management continues to speak positively about him.

Going into the match against GT, DC are likely to think carefully before making any changes, especially after two wins. Teams usually prefer consistency when things are working.
