After a tough run in previous seasons, finishing at the bottom in both 2023 and 2024, the Gujarat Giants are hitting the reset button. With only two players retained, Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney, the franchise is entering the WPL 2026 mega auction with a massive purse of INR 9 crore and plenty of slots to fill.

Since all-rounders are the heartbeat of T20 cricket, here are five names GG should seriously consider to turn their fortunes around.

1. Amelia Kerr

While the Gujarat Giants already have a spin weapon in Gardner, pairing her with Amelia Kerr could be a masterstroke. The Kiwi star was the highest wicket-taker in WPL 2025, snapping up 18 wickets at an average of 15.94 and an economy of 7.75. Although she had a quiet season with the bat (73 runs), her ability to spin a web around batters makes her a top-tier target.

2. Deandra Dottin

"World Boss" Deandra Dottin brings raw power and experience. She had a solid outing in 2025, scoring 142 runs at a blistering strike rate of 154.35 while also picking up 9 wickets. Her aggressive style in the middle order could form a lethal partnership with Gardner, giving Gujarat Giants the finishing kick they’ve often lacked.

3. Nadine de Klerk

If GG wants a proven match-winner, Nadine de Klerk is the one to watch. She didn't play in WPL 2025, but she absolutely lit up the recent World Cup. She played a hero’s knock against India, smashing an unbeaten 84 off just 54 balls to seal a thrilling win. As a finisher who can bowl crucial middle overs, she fits the bill perfectly.

4. Pooja Vastrakar

Having an Indian pace all-rounder is gold in the WPL. Pooja Vastrakar missed the 2025 season due to injury, but her reputation precedes her. She is a frontline pacer who can swing the new ball and hit long sixes down the order, solving two problems with one pick.

5. Alice Capsey

Young English talent Alice Capsey offers great value. While her 2025 stats were modest (16 runs and 1 wicket), she has the potential to be a long-term asset. Like Kerr and Dottin, she strengthens the middle order and provides a handy off-spin option.

With a fresh strategy and a big budget, targeting these all-rounders could finally help the Gujarat Giants build a squad capable of lifting the trophy.
