Bangladesh pulled off a dominant 76-run win in the second Test against Pakistan to seal the 2-0 series in Sylhet. Taijul Islam took six wickets to guide Bangladesh to back-to-back Test series wins for the first time in their history.

A win also boosted Bangladesh in the World Test Championship 2025-27 standings. With 28 points and a winning percentage of 58.33 after four Test matches, Bangladesh surpassed the Indian team in the WTC points table.

India slipped to sixth, having won just four of nine matches in the WTC 2025-27 cycle. India, the two-time runners-up in the WTC standings, have been underperforming in red-ball cricket, winning just once in the last five Test series.

In the current WTC cycle, India won two and lost two Tests against England in June-July last year. They defeated West Indies 2-0 in October, but suffered a shock 0-2 loss against South Africa in their last Test assignment in November.

Bangladesh rise in the updated WTC Points Table 2025-27

Bangldesh have won two and drawn one of their four matches in the WTC 2025-27 cycle, and are placed fifth in the updated points table. However, the Najmul Shanto-led side is next scheduled to face Australia and South Africa away, so their early rise is unlikely to last longer.

Australia remain at the top with seven wins in eight matches in this cycle. Pat Cummins' side has defeated West Indies 3-0 and won the Ashes 4-1, and is next set to host Bangladesh for two Tests in August.

New Zealand are placed second with two wins and a draw in three matches, followed by the defending champions South Africa are third with three wins and a loss in four Tests in this World Test Championship cycle.

Meanwhile, West Indies remain the only side without a win and are placed at the bottom with seven defeats. Pakistan, after their 0-2 loss against Bangladesh, slipped to eighth place, having won just one of their four Tests.
