NEW DELHI: Ravichandran Ashwin has trolled a social media user after the latter questioned the former India spinner over his analysis of India's T20 World Cup 2024 final win against South Africa.
The user posted a long message on X, quoting Ashwin from his YouTube show Ash Ki Baat. He claimed that Ashwin had suggested India's victory was largely down to pacer Jasprit Bumrah's spell and Suryakumar Yadav's sensational catch to dismiss David Miller in the final over, while failing to give due credit to Virat Kohli, who top-scored in the final with a knock of 76 runs.
"Sure, we won T2OI WC Final in 2024 WC but we were easily losing that game, we won due to Bumrah's brilliance & Suryakumar Yadav's catch otherwise South Africa were winning. We used to play conservative cricket not because we wanted it but because we didn't evolved ourselves. But Rohit Sharma after 2022 Adelaide Semi Final, he changed the game & he even tried changing the game before 2022 WC & even many people criticised Rohit," he wrote quoting Ashwin.
However, Ashwin's verdict did not sit well with the user, who expressed his dissatisfaction and claimed that the spinner indirectly targets Virat Kohli while hyping Rohit Sharma in T20Is. He emphasised that it was Kohli's knock that helped India recover from 34/3 and post a competitive total of 176/7 on the board.
Just spoke to Virat about “Rajiv1841’s” concern on the indirect attack and we both had a good laugh about how social media works on such click baity fan wars.

Taking note of the exchange, Ashwin decided to give the user a taste of his own medicine and hit back with a hilarious response. The veteran spinner quipped that he had spoken to Virat about the "concern", adding that the two shared a good laugh over how people often take to social media for clickbait and over-the-top narratives.
