Vaibhav Sooryavanshi-led carnage powered Rajasthan Royals to a dominant 47-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator clash of IPL 2026 in New Chandigarh.

Now, RR will be facing Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 on Friday, May 29, at the same venue. The winner of that clash will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the grand finale of IPL 2026 on Sunday.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s blistering assault leaves SRH bowlers clueless

After being invited to bat first, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hammered the SRH bowlers all around the park with the innings of life. The 15-year-old prodigy looked completely unstoppable from the very beginning as records kept tumbling during his unbelievable assault.

Sooryavanshi was heartbreakingly just one hit away from breaking Chris Gayle’s record for the fastest century in IPL history. The teenage sensation smashed 97 runs in just 29 deliveries, including five fours and 12 massive sixes at a mind-boggling strike rate of 334.48.

He was brilliantly supported by Dhruv Jurel, who played a blistering knock of 50 runs off just 21 deliveries. Skipper Riyan Parag too chipped in with a valuable cameo of 26 off only 12 balls.

However, despite a slight late collapse, Rajasthan Royals still managed to post a massive 243/8 in their 20 overs.

For the SRH bowlers, it turned out to be a complete nightmare, especially for captain Pat Cummins. The Australian pacer endured one of the most disastrous bowling spells of his career, conceding 64 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket.

Praful Hinge did pick up three wickets, but his economy once again became a massive concern after he leaked 54 runs in four overs. Overall, the SRH bowlers looked completely short of plans and answers in front of Sooryavanshi’s brutal carnage.

Jofra Archer destroys SRH top order in massive chase

Coming out to chase, fans were expecting another blockbuster batting performance from Sunrisers Hyderabad given their explosive batting lineup. However, the chase turned into a disaster right from the beginning.

Jofra Archer struck on just the second ball of the innings itself, removing Abhishek Sharma for a duck and silencing the SRH camp early. Later, Ishan Kishan gave a glimpse of hope with his fiery 33-run cameo off just 11 deliveries, but he too departed quickly.

Archer then removed Travis Head as Rajasthan Royals completely broke the dangerous SRH top order inside the powerplay.

Later in the innings, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Salil Arora tried to stabilise things with a fighting 56-run partnership in only 24 deliveries. However, by then the required run rate had already climbed way too high and the partnership was never going to be enough.

Archer once again turned out to be the trump card for Rajasthan Royals. Despite conceding 58 runs in his four overs, the English pacer completely broke the dangerous SRH batting lineup with his three crucial wickets.

Apart from him, Nandre Burger too impressed with the ball, picking up two wickets while conceding just 26 runs in his three-over spell.

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja used all his experience brilliantly in the middle overs, tossing the ball beautifully and never allowing the SRH batters to free their arms. Jadeja finished with two wickets in his three overs while conceding only 21 runs.

In the end, Sunrisers Hyderabad were bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs as Rajasthan Royals sealed a commanding 47-run victory.

Overall, Rajasthan Royals will now head into Qualifier 2 as one of the happiest and most confident sides in the competition. With familiarity at this venue and the kind of performance they have delivered, RR will certainly challenge Gujarat Titans strongly for a place in the IPL 2026 final.
