In a worrying moment for the Rajasthan Royals camp, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi walked off the field during the second innings of the IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur after a suspected hamstring issue.

The incident took place while he was chasing a ball in the outfield during SRH’s innings. The conditions in Jaipur were tough, with heavy heat and humidity adding to the strain on players.

Hamstring concern for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

The situation unfolded after a delivery from Jofra Archer to Ishan Kishan was put away for four. Archer had gone a little fuller, and Kishan got under it to loft it over cover.

While attempting to chase the ball, Sooryavanshi appeared to pull up suddenly and was seen in discomfort.

The Rajasthan Royals medical staff checked on him on the field before guiding him off for further assessment. Early indications suggest a possible hamstring injury, although there is no official confirmation yet on the severity of the injury.

The franchise is expected to monitor his condition closely, especially given his heavy workload in the match and the demanding conditions in Jaipur.

Brilliant innings before the setback

Before this concern, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had delivered yet another sensational performance with the bat. The 15-year-old produced a breathtaking knock of 103 runs from just 37 balls, including 5 fours and 12 sixes at a strike rate of over 278.

With this knock, Vaibhav became the youngest player ever to score 1000 runs in IPL cricket and the second-fastest to reach the milestone in IPL history.

Since his debut last season, he has been remarkably consistent and continues to break records at just 15 years of age, further strengthening his reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket.

Rajasthan will now be hoping the injury is not serious, especially after such a match-defining performance with the bat. An official update on Sooryavanshi’s fitness is expected after further medical evaluation.
