Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally tasted their first defeat of IPL 2026 at the hands of Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. In a rain affected clash, the visitors were completely outplayed as Rajasthan Royals batters made a mockery of a 200 run target.
After frequent showers delayed the match by more than an hour, RR skipper Riyan Parag invited RCB to bat first.

Kohli, Patidar ensure 200-run mark
It was a poor start for RCB as Phil Salt departed on the very first delivery of the innings. However, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal ensured the powerplay stayed under control with a quick partnership.
Kohli looked fluent but fell after scoring 32 runs. Padikkal also could not convert his start.
Coming in at number four, Rajat Patidar played a rescue innings when wickets were falling at regular intervals. He scored 63 runs off 40 deliveries and laid the foundation of a competitive total for RCB.
In the end, Romario Shepherd and Venkatesh Iyer finished strongly to take Bengaluru to 201 for 8 in 20 overs.
For RR with the ball, Jofra Archer, Ravi Bishnoi and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each and kept things under control at key moments.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi show steals the game
Coming out to chase, it was once again the Vaibhav Sooryavanshi show from the very start.
Despite losing Yashasvi Jaiswal for just 13 runs and the team being 21 on the board, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played an innings to remember.
The 15-year-old smashed 78 runs in just 26 deliveries at a strike rate of 300, taking apart the RCB attack including bowlers of high quality.
However, Krunal Pandya struck twice in consecutive deliveries to bring Royal Challengers Bengaluru back into the game.
But Dhruv Jurel had other plans. The right hander kept finding boundaries at regular intervals and ensured Rajasthan Royals stayed ahead in the chase. He scored an unbeaten 81 runs off 43 deliveries with 8 fours and 3 sixes, a brilliant innings under pressure.
Ravindra Jadeja also played a supporting role with 24 runs as Rajasthan Royals chased down the target in just 18 overs.
For RCB, only Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya managed to pick up two wickets each. The rest of the bowling unit lacked accuracy and failed to create consistent pressure.
RR climb to top of the table
With this win, Rajasthan Royals have climbed to the top of the points table with four wins in four matches and look like a very dangerous side going forward in this tournament.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on the other hand, will look to regroup and correct their mistakes in the upcoming fixtures after suffering their first defeat of IPL 2026.
