NEW DELHI: India pacer Arshdeep Singh landed on the wrong side of the record books during the second T20I against South Africa in New Chandigarh, delivering a nightmare over. The left-arm quick completely lost his line, delivering seven wides and stretching the over to 13 balls.
In the 11th over of South Africa's innings, Arshdeep found himself under heavy pressure after Quinton de Kock launched him for a six. Desperate to pull things back, the left-arm pacer lost control of his line, compounding the damage with a string of wides as he tried - and failed - to contain the Proteas wicketkeeper.
No matter the situation, abusing a youngster is never justified. Shame on Gautam Gambhir for his actions towards Arshdeep Singh pic.twitter.com/05Ie1q4auy

Arshdeep's erratic over also left head coach Gautam Gambhir visibly exasperated, with cameras catching him angrily reacting to the pacer's wayward bowling.

Arshdeep's 13-ball over now sits at the top of the list among full member nation, equalling the unwanted record previously set by Afghanistan's Naveen-ul-Haq, who also bowled a 13-ball over against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2024. Just behind them is South Africa's Sisanda Magala, who delivered a 12-ball over against Pakistan in Johannesburg in 2021.
Earlier, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bowl. India, who lead the five-match series 1-0, fielded an unchanged playing XI.
South Africa, on the other hand, have made three changes with Reeza Hendricks, George Linde and Ottneil Baartman replacing Tristan Stubbs, Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje.
