India captain Suryakumar Yadav crossed the 4,000-run mark in international cricket during India’s crucial Super Eight clash against Zimbabwe in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Chennai on Thursday.

Suryakumar reached the milestone with a brisk 33 off just 13 balls, striking three fours and two sixes at a staggering strike rate of 253.85. In 148 international appearances, he has now amassed 4,024 runs in 140 innings at an average of 34.10 and an overall strike rate of 146.80. His tally includes four centuries and 29 half-centuries, with a highest score of 117.
Suryakumar Yadav’s dominance in T20Is

The bulk of Suryakumar’s runs have come in T20 Internationals, where he has accumulated 3,243 runs in 110 matches (104 innings). He averages 37.27 in the format at a remarkable strike rate of 163.37, with four hundreds and 25 fifties. His best score remains 117, and he currently ranks among the top 10 highest run-scorers in T20I history.
In ODIs, Suryakumar has scored 773 runs in 37 matches at an average of 25.76 and a strike rate of 105.02, with a highest score of 72 not out. He has also featured once in Tests, scoring eight runs in his only innings.
In the ongoing T20 World Cup, Suryakumar has been India’s second-highest run-getter, compiling 213 runs in six innings at an average of 42.60 and a strike rate of 138.31. His standout knock was an unbeaten 84 against the USA.
India post massive total against Zimbabwe
After Zimbabwe opted to field first, India produced a batting masterclass. Sanju Samson chipped in with 24 off 15 balls, sharing a 48-run stand with Abhishek Sharma.
Sharma then powered his way to 55 off 30 deliveries, including four fours and four sixes, adding 72 runs for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan, who made 38 off 24 balls.
The late fireworks came from Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya, who stitched together a blistering 84-run partnership off just 33 balls for the fifth wicket. Tilak remained unbeaten on 44 from 16 balls, while Pandya smashed an unbeaten 50 off 23 deliveries.
India finished on a mammoth 256 for 4 — their highest total in T20 World Cup history and the second-highest team score ever recorded in the tournament.
