Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed R S Ambrish as an injury replacement for Shivam Mavi for the remainder of IPL 2026.

Mavi, who was dealing with a groin injury, has been ruled out of the entire season.

RS Ambrish joins SRH as Shivam Mavi replacement

The 18-year-old all-rounder RS Ambrish comes in as a promising addition to the SRH setup. Ambrish was part of India’s title-winning Under-19 World Cup squad earlier this year and made a strong impact with the ball.

He picked up 11 wickets in seven matches in the tournament and finished as one of India’s joint-highest wicket-takers. What stood out was his control, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.93 throughout the campaign.

A right-arm medium pacer and a left-handed batter, Ambrish brings useful balance to the side. He has the ability to bowl disciplined spells and can also contribute handy runs lower down the order.

Injury setbacks continue for Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH have had a tough time with injuries this season. Regular skipper Pat Cummins missed a significant part of the tournament but has now returned to the squad.

Apart from him, bowling all-rounder Jack Edwards was ruled out early in the season due to a finger injury. The same was the case with Brydon Carse and David Payne, who also missed out due to injuries.

Despite the injury concerns, SRH have managed to turn things around in impressive fashion. After losing three of their first four matches, they bounced back strongly with five consecutive wins.

They are currently placed third on the points table with six wins in nine games and look well on track for a playoff spot. The return of Cummins has given the side a big boost in both leadership and bowling strength.
