Punjab Kings, despite losing their last two games, hold the crown in the IPL 2026 points table. Shreyas Iyer's side is still at the top, largely due to their early strides in the tournament, but their position will slip away if they lose again today.
With six wins in nine matches, the runners-up of IPL 2025 are looking set for another bid at their maiden title. However, they lost momentum by losing their last two games against the Rajasthan Royals and the Gujarat Titans.
In their last game against GT, they were restricted to 163 total while batting first after a quickfire fifty from Suryansh Shedge. However, it was not enough to avoid back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.
With the playoff race heating up nicely, the Punjab Kings will look to return to winning ways today and stay at the top.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview
After winning five matches in a row and establishing their position in the top four, Pat Cummins' side fell against the bottom-half side, Kolkata Knight Riders, in their last game.
Despite a strong start from Travis Head, the teams stumbled on just 165 total while batting first. Bowlers struggled again, allowing KKR to chase down the target without any trouble.
SRH will target a quick return to the winning ways without thinking much after the KKR defeat. However, they will need a much-improved performance from their bowling attack to overcome PBKS today.
