India’s T20I vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has slipped to fifth spot in the latest ICC Women’s T20I batting rankings after a quiet outing against South Africa, while all-rounder Deepti Sharma moved up to fourth among bowlers in the latest cricket news released on Tuesday.
Smriti Mandhana's flop show against South Africa
Mandhana couldn’t quite find her rhythm in the three-match series, managing just 62 runs at an average of 20.
In contrast, Deepti stood out as India’s top performer with the ball, finishing as the highest wicket-taker of the series with seven scalps, along with contributing some valuable runs in key moments.
Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh move up
Meanwhile, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has climbed one spot to re-enter the top 10 with 646 rating points after scoring 169 runs in the South Africa series. Richa Ghosh also gained ground, rising two places to 22nd in the batting rankings.
In another jump, young Indian left-arm spinner Shree Charani has achieved a career-best ranking, leaping 12 spots to 11th. Her rise comes after a solid performance in the final match of the series against South Africa in Benoni, where she picked up two wickets.
Laura Wolvaardt closes in on top spot
South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has surged to third place with a career-best 786 rating points. She is now just two points behind Australia’s Beth Mooney and 29 shy of the top-ranked Georgia Voll, who leads the charts with 815 points.
Wolvaardt was in outstanding form during the five-match series, finishing with 330 runs, the highest tally by any player in a women’s bilateral T20I series. Her standout knock was an unbeaten 92 off 56 balls, helping South Africa secure a 4-1 series win.
Other players gain in ODI rankings

Among bowlers, Nahida Akter has advanced to 11th, and Marufa Akter has climbed six places to 37th.
For Sri Lanka, captain Chamari Athapaththu has inched up to ninth among ODI all-rounders and surged seven places to joint 34th in the bowling rankings. Meanwhile, Harshitha Samarawickrama has risen three spots to share the 20th position in the ODI batting list.
