NEW DELHI: Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bowl against New Zealand in their crucial Group 2 Super Eights encounter of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup here on Wednesday.

It is a do-or-die contest for Sri Lanka, as a defeat would bring their campaign to an end in this tournament.

With only one semifinal berth still available from Group 2, both sides understand the stakes. Sri Lanka need victories in their remaining matches to stay alive, while New Zealand will be keen to secure their first win of the Super Eights after their opening clash against Pakistan was washed out.

Sri Lanka made one change, drafting in Charith Asalanka in place of Kamil Mishara. New Zealand also shuffled their combination, with Cole McConchie replacing James Neesham.

The Teams:

Sri Lanka: Dasun Shanaka (c), Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Charith Asalanka, Pavan Rathnayake, Kamindu Mendis, Dunith Wellalage, Dushan Hemantha, Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Dilshan Madushanka.

New Zealand: Mitchell Santner (c), Tim Seifert (wk), Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Cole McConchie, Matt Henry, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson.
