The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a total cash reward of ₹7.5 crore for the Indian Under-19 men’s team following their triumphant ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup campaign. The prize money will be shared among the players, technical staff and the national selection committee, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Saturday.

India clinched a record-extending sixth Under-19 World Cup title after a dominant 100-run victory over England in the final at the Harare Sports Club on Friday.
“A cash award of ₹7.5 crore will be given to the Indian team that won the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia. We are currently working on the break-up of the amount for the players, technical staff and the selection committee, but ₹7.5 crore is the total reward from the BCCI,” Saikia told IANS.
India’s emphatic title win was headlined by a sensational century from 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who powered the team to a mammoth 411 for nine. Captain Ayush Mhatre chipped in with a composed 53, while wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu added a valuable 40. England began their chase positively, but a dramatic middle-order collapse derailed their pursuit, with Caleb Falconer’s valiant 115 proving insufficient.
The triumph also completed a rare double for Indian cricket, with the country currently holding both the ICC Under-19 Men’s and Women’s World Cup titles. Saikia underlined the board’s continued focus on youth development, calling age-group cricket a key priority for the future.
“Age-group cricket remains a key priority, and the BCCI will continue to invest in and strengthen these foundations. Well done, boys. The nation is immensely proud of you,” Saikia wrote on X.
The BCCI secretary also revealed that an official announcement regarding central contracts for senior men’s and women’s players will be made soon.
