In the opening clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Phil Salt produced an absolute screamer on the field that left the cricketing fraternity in awe.
In the contest between RCB and SRH, Salt made his with sharp fielding and crucial catches.
Flying Phil Salt produced a blinder
The standout moment came in the 16th over when Phil Salt removed Ishan Kishan, who was closing in on a century and batting fluently on 80 off 38 deliveries. The delivery from Abhinandan Singh was a full toss outside off. Kishan reached out and sliced it in the air towards the point boundary.
It looked like it would run away to the fence, but Salt charged across to his right and dived one handed at full stretch and completed a stunning catch that made the Chinnaswamy crowd rose on its feet.

Boundary catch drama involving Heinrich Klaasen
Phil Salt was involved in another important moment shortly after when Heinrich Klaasen was dismissed near the boundary. Klaasen went after a short of a length delivery from Romario Shepherd, heaving it high towards the midwicket boundary.
Salt was positioned near the ropes and went down while taking the catch. He did not remain fully upright, which led to the third umpire being called in to check whether any part of his body or the cushions were in contact with the boundary.
The replays were not very conclusive at first. However, the third umpire observed that there was no visible movement of the cushions. Based on that, the decision was given out on the big screen.
Klaasen did not look happy with the call and had a brief word with the fourth umpire before walking back.
SRH cross 200-run mark
SRH lifted to 201 runs in 20 overs. Apart from Kishan and Aniket Verma, young Aniket Verma ensured that they crossed the 200 run mark with his blistering 43 runs in just 18 deliveries.
Now it will be all eyes on Salt once again with the bat as RCB look to chase it down and start in a winning fashion.
