Key dismissals that set the tone
The first breakthrough came in the form of Abhishek Sharma who was caught on 7 runs. Duffy went short and rushed the batter who attempted a pull shot but failed to control the shot. The ball took a thick top edge and was safely taken by Jitesh Sharma behind the stumps.
The next wicket came soon after when dangerous Travis Head was dismissed on 11. Duffy again used the short ball effectively. Head went for a forceful pull but mistimed it under pressure. Phil Salt positioned at deep backward square leg moved well and completed a composed catch.
The third and final was Nitish Reddy who was dismissed on 1. Duffy’s pace and bounce hurried the batter into a loose shot across the line. With limited footwork the top edge went high in the air and was taken comfortably by debutant Abhinandan Singh at mid-wicket.
A memorable spell for Jacob Duffy
Jacob Duffy finished his spell with, 22 runs and three wickets. His impact immediately lifted the energy inside the stadium and the crowd at Chinnaswamy responded with loud cheers.
Despite losing three quick wickets inside the powerplay Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to reach 49 runs. With Heinrich Klaasen and skipper Ishan Kishan still at the crease they will look to rebuild and push towards a competitive total.
