The Pro10 Malaysia cricket tournament, scheduled to be held at the Bayuemas Oval in Selangor from January 30 to February 2, has been postponed due to logistical challenges, the organisers confirmed on Friday.
The tournament is now expected to take place after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Fresh dates for the competition will be announced once the global event concludes.
Backed by former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri, with West Indies legend Sir Vivian Richards serving as brand ambassador, Pro10 Malaysia was set to feature three teams. The organisers also revealed plans to expand the tournament to four teams when it is eventually staged.
In an official statement, the organisers said all key stakeholders were aligned with the decision to postpone the event.
“The Pro10 Malaysia cricket tournament has been postponed to a later date, post the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup in India, due to logistical issues. New dates will be announced in due time,” the statement read.
“All stakeholders, including cricketers, match officials and the Malaysian Cricket Association, are aligned with the postponement and have extended full support to the tournament,” it added.
The Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) also threw its weight behind the organisers, expressing confidence that the event would be successfully delivered at a later date.
“The tournament promises our top players a valuable opportunity to compete against global players and showcase their talent for other leagues,” the MCA said. “We are hopeful it will go ahead as planned once fresh dates are finalised by the Pro10 Group.”
