Pakistan collapse after strong position on final day
Set 268 to win on Day 5, Pakistan looked well placed after reaching 119 for 4 and appeared on course to save the game. But things changed quickly as Bangladesh struck in clusters and triggered a dramatic collapse.
Pakistan were bowled out for 163 with their final six wickets falling for just 44 runs. The collapse exposed the lower order once again as Bangladesh controlled the final session completely.
Abdullah Fazal fought hard with 66 and tried to hold one end together. Salman Agha added 26 but none of the remaining batters could stay long enough to take Pakistan close.
Nahid Rana starred with the ball and ripped through Pakistan’s resistance with a five-wicket haul.
The pacer removed the middle and lower order at crucial moments and finished the innings in style. Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam chipped in with two wickets each as Bangladesh sealed a memorable result.
Bangladesh build control with strong first innings
Bangladesh had laid the foundation after posting 413 in their first innings. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with 101 while Mominul Haque missed out on a century after making 91. Mushfiqur Rahim also played an important hand with 71.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas kept them in the contest with a superb five-wicket haul.
Pakistan responded with 386 runs cancelling Bangladesh’s first innings score and stayed alive in the match. Azan Awais struck a brilliant century while Abdullah Fazal made 60.
Bangladesh's declaration at perfect time
Bangladesh then scored 240 for 9 in the third innings before declaring.
Shanto once again stepped up with 87 while Mominul made 56. The declaration came at the ideal time with the pitch beginning to offer more assistance to bowlers and Pakistan left with a tricky target.
That move paid off perfectly as Bangladesh’s bowlers dominated the final day and completed a famous win.
Bangladesh rise in WTC table

The victory gave Bangladesh their first win of the ICC World Test Championship cycle 2025-27.
Bangladesh moved to sixth place with 16 points and a points percentage of 44.44. Pakistan remained seventh with 12 points and a PCT of 33.33.
India are currently fifth in the standings with 52 points and a PCT of 48.15, staying just ahead of Bangladesh.
