Many legendary bowlers in the history of ODI cricket have made memorable matches with their brilliant bowling styles. These players have created this record through consistent wicket-taking ability, which led towards victory in difficult circumstances.

Muttiah Muralitharan – 534 wickets

Muttiah Muralitharan is the top-most successful wicket-taker in ODI cricket history. He played 350 matches in his career and took 534 wickets. During this period, he achieved the amazing feat of taking 5-wicket hauls 10 times and 4-wicket hauls 15 times, which is the biggest proof of his consistency and sharp spin bowling.

Wasim Akram – 502 wickets

Pakistani legend Wasim Akram holds the second spot on the list of most ODI wickets in international cricket. He took 502 wickets in 356 matches due to his swing ability. He played a major role in his team's victory with 5-wicket hauls 6 times and 4-wicket hauls 17 times in his ODI career.

Waqar Younis – 416 wickets

Waqar Younis took a total of 416 wickets in 262 matches with his lethal bowling. He took five-wicket hauls 13 times and 14 four-wicket hauls in his ODI cricket career. His blistering pace and accurate reverse swing always posed a significant challenge to batsmen around the world.

Chaminda Vaas – 400 wickets

Chaminda Vaas is one of Sri Lanka's most successful fast bowlers, who took 400 wickets in 322 matches thanks to his accurate line and length. He took four five-wicket hauls and nine four-wicket hauls in his career. He is renowned for his exceptional ability to take most wickets in ODIs with the new ball.

Shahid Afridi – 395 wickets

Shahid Afridi took a total of 395 wickets in 398 matches. He achieved nine five-wicket hauls and four four-wicket hauls with his clever leg-spin. He is a vital match-winning bowler of Pakistan who is known for his variations in bowling speed.  

Shaun Pollock – 393 wickets

Shaun Pollock is a South Africa's renowned all-rounder who has taken 393 wickets in 303 matches with his precise bowling skills. He took five five-wicket hauls and 12 four-wicket hauls and secured his place in the list of most wickets in ODI cricket.

Glenn McGrath – 381 wickets

Legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath took 381 wickets in 250 matches. He took seven five-wicket hauls and nine four-wicket hauls. He is renowned for his exceptional consistency and lethal performances in big matches.

Glenn McGrath held the record for most wickets in ICC ODI tournaments between 1996 and 2007. He took 71 wickets in 39 innings across 39 matches.

Brett Lee – 380 wickets

Brett Lee is known for his blistering pace, who has taken 380 wickets in 221 matches. He has recorded nine five-wicket hauls and 14 four-wicket hauls in ODI cricket. He is one of the brilliant bowlers due to his consistency while taking wickets in crucial moments.

Anil Kumble – 337 wickets

Anil Kumble leads the chart for most wickets for India in ODI, where he has taken 337 wickets in 271 matches. This legend has registered two five-wicket hauls and eight four-wicket performances during his remarkable ODI career.
