Mitchell Starc has strongly criticised certain individuals who, according to him, have been spreading false and misleading information about his absence from the early phase of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
There were claims going around that some Australian players had deliberately opted out despite being fit, Starc has now come out and dismissed those talks.
Mitchell Starc hits out at false narratives
In a story posted on Instagram, Starc addressed the situation and explained what he has actually been dealing with.
The pacer pointed out that opinions were being formed publicly without full understanding of his condition.
“Despite the opinions and views of certain individuals with their platforms in and through the Indian media, I’m currently rehabbing and managing an injury in my shoulder and elbow of which I didn’t know the extent of.”
He also highlighted how such views were being projected as facts, which according to him is misleading.
“These individuals have made some strong statements around involvement in the IPL and provided heavily misinformed opinions of players, preached them as facts, and claim to know my body better than me.”
Apology issued to Delhi Capitals
Starc also acknowledged the impact of his absence on Delhi Capitals and admitted that missing the early matches is a setback for the side.
The Australian quick accepted responsibility and addressed the situation openly.
“With that said I do acknowledge this injury set back and apologising is disrupt to the Delhi team not being available for the early part of this season.”
At the same time, a commitment to return at the earliest was reiterated while staying in touch with the franchise.
“I remain committed to join DC, are in continual communication updating the team and will continue to do what I can to be available for DC asap.”
Starc expected to return for IPL 2026
Starc was part of Delhi Capitals in the previous season and was retained by the franchise for IPL 2026 at INR 11.75 crore.
The left arm pacer is expected to return soon and feature for Delhi Capitals once fully fit.
