NEW DELHI: Veteran England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler has joined an elite club, becoming only the second England player to feature in 400 international matches. He reached the milestone during the third ODI against Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday.

At 35, Buttler now sits just behind England's legendary seamer James Anderson, who holds the record for the most international appearances for the Three Lions with 401 matches, having picked up 991 wickets across all formats.

Buttler, in contrast, has made his mark with the bat, scoring a staggering 12,291 international runs and 14 centuries across formats.

In Test cricket, he has amassed 2,907 runs in 57 matches at an average of 31.94, including two centuries and 18 fifties. In ODIs, Buttler has scored 5,515 runs in 199 matches at an average of 39.11, with 11 hundreds and 29 half-centuries.

His T20I record is equally impressive, with 3,869 runs in 144 matches, highlighted by one century and 28 fifties at an average of 35.49.

A two-time ICC white-ball title winner, Buttler will once again play a central role for England at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, starting February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.

Harry Brook-led sde will kick off their World Cup campaign against Nepal on February 8, with Buttler expected to anchor the batting and marshal the team from behind the stumps.
