The BCCI has announced a schedule revision for IPL 2026 that will affect two fixtures between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. The change comes ahead of municipal corporation elections scheduled across Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat on April 26, which made hosting a match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on that date impractical.
IPL 2026, GT vs CSK: What has changed and when
The afternoon IPL fixture between GT and CSK that was originally scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on April 26 will now be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, starting at 3:30 PM IST.
As a direct consequence of that swap, the reverse fixture, originally scheduled at Chennai on May 21, will now be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, beginning at 7:30 PM IST. In simple terms the two venues have been exchanged, with Ahmedabad hosting what was meant to be Chennai's home game and Chennai hosting what was meant to be Ahmedabad's.

Why the change was made by BCCI
The reason is straightforward, municipal corporation elections are scheduled across Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat on April 26, making it logistically and administratively difficult to host a major sporting event at the Narendra Modi Stadium on the same day.
The BCCI confirmed the revision in an official media advisory on Monday April 13, noting that the match timings for both fixtures remain unchanged even as the venues have been swapped.
For Gujarat Titans the April 26 game now becomes an away fixture at Chepauk, while CSK gain a home game they were not originally scheduled to have in that slot. The May 21 game reverses that arrangement, giving GT a home fixture at the world's largest cricket stadium.
