Sunrisers Hyderabad have chased down 244 runs in an extraordinary batting performance against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026, sealing the game by 6 wickets with 8 balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium.

Playing away from home, they delivered one of the most clinical chases against a strong Mumbai Indians bowling lineup.

Ryan Rickelton century powers Mumbai Indians to 243

After winning the toss, MI skipper Hardik Pandya decided to bat first and it went exactly according to their plans as the new opening combination of Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton came hard at the SRH bowlers. The duo stitched a brilliant 93-run partnership for the first wicket, setting the tone early.

Will Jacks played an aggressive knock of 46 off 22 balls before falling, but Ryan Rickelton continued the assault. The left-hander went on to score a sensational unbeaten 123 off 55 deliveries, including 10 fours and 8 sixes, anchoring the innings brilliantly.

The momentum carried forward as Naman Dhir and Hardik Pandya chipped in with valuable contributions. Naman Dhir scored 22 off 17 balls, while Hardik Pandya provided a late flourish with 31 off just 15 deliveries, including two fours and two sixes.

Tilak Varma added a quick 7, while Suryakumar Yadav’s struggles continued as he fell early for just 5 runs. Mumbai Indians eventually posted a strong total of 243 for 5 in their 20 overs.

For SRH, Praful Hinge was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Eshan Malinga and Sakib Hussain picked up one each. Pat Cummins bowled a controlled spell, conceding 39 runs in his four overs in a high-scoring contest.

Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen lead Sunrisers Hyderabad chase

Chasing a daunting target, SRH came out with clear intent. Travis Head led the charge at the top with a blistering 76 off just 30 balls, smashing four fours and eight sixes to put Mumbai under pressure.

Abhishek Sharma supported well with 45 off 24 balls as SRH raced ahead in the powerplay. Although Ishan Kishan fell for a duck and a couple of wickets slowed things briefly, the chase remained in control.

Heinrich Klaasen then took charge and finished unbeaten on 65 off 30 deliveries, playing a composed yet aggressive knock. He found solid support from Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored 21, before Salil Arora finished the game in style with an unbeaten 30 off just 10 balls.

Jasprit Bumrah and MI bowlers struggle in high-scoring clash

It was a tough outing for the Mumbai Indians bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah had an unusually expensive day, conceding 54 runs in his four overs without picking up a wicket.

Trent Boult managed one wicket, while AM Ghazanfar was among the few positives with two wickets despite conceding 51 runs. Hardik Pandya also chipped in with a wicket, but overall it was a disappointing performance from a bowling unit known for its strength.

With this win, SRH registered their fifth consecutive victory and moved up to third position on the points table.

MI's struggles continue as they suffered their sixth defeat of the season. With the tournament entering a crucial phase, they now find themselves in a must-win situation to keep their playoff hopes alive.
